Beautiful parks full of playground equipment, the Prairie Ridge sports Complex, and an annual All-City Play Day have made Ankeny a top city for just having fun with your family. In fact, they’ve earned the ‘playful city’ designation for the last 4 years, and mayor Van Oort would like to make it 5 in a row. He’s asking you to share your fun Ankeny experiences on their facebook page today, and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a 2012 aquatic center season pass.

There’s no doubt that David Wilkerson has touched many, many lives for Christ. His book, The Cross and the Switchblade, not only sold 50 million copies in 30 different languages, but it was turned into a movie in 1970. By founding Teen Challenge, he’s helped put countless people on the road to recovery.
You may have heard that David lost his life in a car accident late last month. If you’d like to be a part of his memorial service, but can’t afford a flight to New York, you can watch it live at the Times Square Church website… it will start at 1PM this Saturday.

The Ames City Council is moving forward with its goal to create and promote a community vision, and all Ames residents are encouraged to get involved. An online survey has been developed to seek input on what makes Ames a great place to live, but also what challenges and opportunities to consider.
Community visioning is a process that allows residents to express what they value about their city and develop consensus on what they would like to change. The process includes a realistic look at a community and focuses on long-range goals.
Click here to get started on the survey. It will take about 20 minutes to complete.
