The Blank Park Zoo has setup it’s annual April Fool’s hot lines.
Zoo officials said they receive an onslaught of April Fool’s Day prank phone calls from unsuspecting callers. The callers are given a message from a co-worker asking them to return a call to Mr. Rory Lyon, Ms. Sally Mander, Mr. Perry Keet, Mr. Wally B. Hopin and others at the Zoo’s phone number.
In response, the zoo set up four special phone numbers for pranksters:
# Mr. Rory Lion, 515-974-2670
# Ms. Sally Mander, 515-974-2671
# Mr. Perry Keet, 515-974-2672
# Mr. Wally B. Hopin, 515-974-2673
“If you can’t beat the pranksters, then join ‘em,” said Ryan Bickel, Blank Park Zoo spokesman. “Each number has a pre-recorded message that will let them know they have been fooled … but in a nice way.”
The messages are also available at the zoo’s Web site www.blankparkzoo.com
Officials said last year, the zoo’s phone system was overwhelmed with 30,000 phone calls on April 1.
