How you can help the cleanup in Ames

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Mayor Ann Campbell asked Ames residents today to reach out to their neighbors who were affected by last week’s flood.

RSVP, the organization that led sandbagging and water distribution efforts, also will match volunteers to residents who need help with cleanup or repairs. Residents who are over age 65, disabled or have special circumstances will receive first priority.

Volunteers are needed, RSVP Director Kalen Petersen said, but “we will also be in need of supplies and equipment.”

RSVP is asking for donations of gloves, fans, pumps, dehumidifiers, shovels, buckets, mops, squeegees and disinfectants.

Anyone willing to donate time or materials should contact RSVP at (515) 239-5678.
